Aptronym

Yes, I know this blog today is suppose to be about Toledo, OH, but then I just learned what aptronym means, and I have to share a little story with people. Aparently, aptronym means

"a word allegedly coined by United States newspaper columnist Franklin P. Adams, and refers to a name that is aptly suited to its owner"

So, why do I care about aptronym? Well, I got a friend whose name is Sue, and she is a lawyer. Her last name is Yoo, so . . . . . . . . . Well, if you cannot figure it out, you are kind of . . . . . . . . .

She is now famous, someone wrote a little blur about her on slate.com, which got picked up by the lawblog at the Wall Street Journal. Also, according to her, a merely 20 minutes after the story was published on slate.com, she got an email from her friend about that story, and soon after, she is getting emails and calls from lots of her friends that she has not talked to for a while. This is suprising to me, not that she is getting famous, but the fact that, people actually read Slate????????? I know slate.com was somewhat in existence a while back when I was in college, but I thought it had disappeared since no one cared . . . . Well, I guess I was wrong, and how ignorant I am. Perhaps I should read slate.com more often, apparently it is popular??

Here are the links featuring my friend Sue, last name Yoo:

if you want your kid to be a born to be.... think who you are going to Marry (as last name is important), and don't pick out a wrong first name!
